The Card Room

Limited time All-Star packs and new Flashback cards introduced in MLB The Show 16

It’s a big week for new content in MLB The Show 16‘s Diamond Dynasty mode! With the MLB All-Star game just around the corner there are multiple new themed limited time new card packs while a bunch of appealing new Flashback cards have been cycled into the mix.

NL All-Stars Pack
Includes four cards with one guaranteed to be from the NL All-Star team (3,000 Stubs)

AL All-Stars Pack
Includes four cards with one guaranteed to be from the AL All-Star team (3,000 Stubs)

Ultimate All-Stars Pack
Includes six player cards with three guaranteed to be from the All-Star teams (7,500 Stubs)

These are pricey packs so it’s important to evaluate whether they’re worth taking a gamble on. Compared to a normal 1,000 Stub pack each of these offer fewer cards but they do provide for an “increased chance” at Golds and Diamonds.

With guaranteed All-Stars one important factor to consider is how those players rate in the game and the current value of their cards. 28% of this year’s All-Stars current fall within the Silver tier and those are the most likely ones that’ll be in the packs. If you don’t pull a higher valued Gold or any Diamond you’ll be losing considerable Stubs on each one.

If deciding between the NL Pack and the AL Pack, the better bet is to go with the National League one. There are more Diamond players and fewer Silver players there. The AL has more Gold players but not all of the cards in that tier will recoup the investment on their own.

Also keep in mind that the market will be flooded with more Gold and Diamond cards due to these packs. Their values are already falling enough to make for some good purchasing opportunities.
